TLC Customer Testimonial

“TLC has been very good to work with in all respects, especially the customer service area.  Turnaround is very fast.  We call Customer Service and they immediately send the problem to the technician.  Our issues are addressed in a very short time, with an eye on cost containment.  Also, TLC's billing is good in that it is very detailed.  Not only do they detail out the exact number of hours spent on each project, they also describe each project in detail so that we know what work was done.  Another highlight is TLC's quality client service.  They are very good listeners and good problem solvers.  For example, they have worked with us and devised ways to enhance security and curtail the occurrence of viruses.  We are very happy with TLC's service.”

About Us

To tell you "About Us" I have to start with me. My name is Jacqueline M. B. Wheeler. From the moment I first touched a computer as a senior in high school back in 1979, I knew this was for me. There is just something about the logic and order inherent in computers that parallels how my brain works. Computers have always been easy for me.

With both my father and grandfather being entrepreneurs, I also have always envisioned having my own company. Combining those penchants resulted in my BS in Business, majoring in Finance and Personnel Management, and AS in Computing Science degrees from the University of Evansville in 1985.

After college I started working for my father’s company, intent on learning his business (insurance). I quickly cast that plan aside, however, when I found myself devising ways to automate his business processes. Working closely with his insurance underwriters, I automated a portion of the underwriting process, enabling them to increase quoting and sales volume without requiring additional expensive underwriting staff. I also automated the policy issuance process, cutting down the delivery time of a policy from 6 weeks to a few days, again without increasing staff.

A big part of making that happen was installing personal computers and a server, creating and configuring the infrastructure to connect them together into a network, and then maintaining it all. It became very clear to me that computer networking would be my business…once I felt I had accumulated enough experience.

I established my own business (then named Tower Lakes Computing) in January of 1992. Along the way I have taken myriad training classes in all sorts of technologies. However, the technology always changes and evolves. Mainly, from home offices to midsize corporate offices with multiple locations, I have designed, installed, and maintained complete network infrastructures for all sorts of businesses. This includes servers, firewalls, VPNs, wireless networks, company-wide antivirus solutions…on occasion I’ve even built workstations and servers from scratch. And along the way I have done a LOT of troubleshooting. My brain seems specially wired for it. I think in a very organized manner and troubleshoot in an experienced, instinctive kind of way.

During my first ten years in business, I was a one-woman show. But in this field, it is impossible to know everything. I augmented and complimented my own skill set by bringing in my consulting partners to help enhance the quality service I provide to my clients. While we still have our superb consulting partners on tap, I am proud to say TLC Networks, Inc., now has a full-time staff of four people, which has further broadened our expertise and enhanced our customer care.

Have you ever had one of those “defining moments” when you realize something really big has just happened and the course of your life is about to change? I had one of those goose-bump moments when I realized that Nancy Young was available and willing to join forces with me at TLC. I’ve known Nancy for years and have worked with her in various capacities. Many years ago I had envisioned the great things we could accomplish together as a team at TLC, if there were only some way to make it happen.

Joining forces with Nancy turned out for the best, and since then we continue to add to the team. Marko Kuusemets joined TLC in 2005 as a Technology Specialist, and Jason Mayerle joined the team in 2007 as a Network Technology Architect.

Well, it finally happened! I am thrilled to have my "dream team" in place and I'm proud to tell you a little bit about my crew...
